Our Local Beef

The beef you will find at the Fruit Shak is truly superior to the competition. Raised on about 30 sections of land (over 19,000) acres, our beef is free to live their best life.  The Fruit Shak provides an exclusive crossed breed of cattle; Angus crossed with Limousine. This cross of beef is well known for its quality of marble and amazing flavor.   Allowing these cattle to roam free and graze at their leisure makes for great quality of life.  Once the beef reaches the perfect weight and size, they are hand selected to move into the finishing area.  Once selected and moved to the finishing area, there they are provided a specific diet of non gmo corn and grains for at least 120 days to allow for them to finish with the most amazing flavor imaginable.  Once the beef is finished to perfection, great care is taken to transport these animals to mountain meats free of bruising and stress.  Once dispatched the beef is allowed to age to perfection, though dry aging the beef reduces the quantity of the finished product it enhances the flavor extensively which is a trade off we are happy to accept.  The end product is melt in your mouth perfection that will make our beef your go to for any cut whether it’s a steak, roast or burger.

Our Local Lamb

Just as with our beef and pork only the best is provided for our customers at the Fruit Shak. We start with the dorper breed of lamb, this breed of lamb shows good maturity at 4-6 months of age, ensuring tenderness and a superior flavor making for a great-tasting prime lamb. In addition to these genetic benefits, they also grow a thinner wool that doesn’t cause overheating in the summer. When it comes to the diet, we allow these dorper’s to enjoy an endless buffet of alfalfa grass along with supplemental cracked corn, barley and molasses which gives them the proper diet with the perfect amount of protein to grow to a good size while ensuring the quality of meat isn’t sacrificed in the process. Once these lambs reach the perfect size and maturity they are gently loaded for transportation to mountain meats. Just like with our pork and beef we take great care in providing a stress-free environment on their travels to the western slope to minimize and stress or anxiety prior to processing. This ensures the finished product meets the standards set forth for our customers.

Our Local Pork

The fruit shak provides an exclusive line of hogs who’s products are available only through our store or website. There are several characteristics that put our fantastic pork on a pedestal above the competition. It starts with the living conditions; happy hogs make great bacon. Our hogs are all raised on the ranch in an outdoor environment with freshwater access. It is well known that pigs love to root in the ground however it is often forgotten that they obtain valuable nutrients from rooting as well as the fresh exposed ground allows them to keep a good body temperature in the heat and cold. For these reasons our pigs are never confined to concrete or restrictive environment.

Our hogs also enjoy the finest feeds available. The pigs have a base diet of non-gmo corn, molasses, pinto beans, and barley which provides them all the protein and nutrients needed for a healthy diet. In addition to this well-rounded feed, they are also provided with all the non-consumable produce from the farmers market and jarring process giving them a nice variety of everything from melons to peaches to cucumber ends, apple peelings, vegetables and much more. Our hogs mature at around 6-9 months depending on weight giving them ample time to grow healthy at a pace that keeps them leaner and allows for good marbling to provide excellent quality. As with our lambs and beef, we take great care in stress free loading and transportation process. In addition, we give ample time between the ride and butcher to avoid any stress or anxiety from the transportation process.

Our Pork is available by the pound or in bulk by visiting our online store or stopping by the Fruit Shak.
